  • Hello all! This is your local Azeroth correspondent, Lady Tam. This past weekend in Azeroth saw a huge influx of Valentine’s-like memorabilia: hearts, cologne, hearts, chocolate, hearts, perfume, and even more hearts. This has always disturbed me a little, especially in Undercity. Being the home of one of the most bitter and least loving characters in all of Azeroth, this does not seem a likely place for love to bloom. I suppose that it was due to such a dilemma that Blizzard decided that it would be a good idea to present a quest that explains why undead would suddenly go from bitter resentment of the entire world around them to love-stricken beings heartsick with love.

  • Look on the cover of any movie or game and you’ll see a rather handy feature, the content rating, a brief glimpse into the contents of the disc, distilled into a letter and a few words, able to give any responsible parent the idea that no, that movie with gratuitous violence is not apropos for their 5 year old. And while any parent worth their salt doesn’t rely 100% on these ratings and instead checks out the media themselves, it’s still a rather nice tool to have in an arsenal against an onslaught of adult material primarily intended for, well, adults.

Once a parent has deemed something unsuitable for their child, it’s easy for access to be restricted, either by just not buying it, or locking it away. (Though some enterprising teens could probably get into a locked cabinet.) However, if you are one of the several million homes with high speed internet, all this content is just a few keystrokes or a miss-click away for your child.

  • PS3 or 360 – Does It Matter?

Something has struck me here in the midst of E3. Most of the games I’m looking forward to are 3rd party games that will be available on both of the major consoles. I currently have 3 games pre-ordered, SoulCalibur IV, Fallout 3 and Resistance 2. Of those, only Resistance is a PS3 exclusive. Final Fantasy XIII has just been announced to be going multi-platform as well. And the one game so far to really catch my eye at the show that I didn’t know much about before is Mirror’s Edge, an EA game that is releasing this fall for…you guessed it…both the PS3 & 360.

  • 92 Million

That’s the number that currently causing Trey grief. That’s my new high score in Super Stardust HD, the most addictive downloadable game ever. He was closing in on me, so I’ve been trying to beat my score recently to extend my lead, and I finally managed it this weekend. Of course, I want to crack 100mil, so I’ll have to keep playing a little more. I still need to break in the newly added custom soundtrack option anyway.

So, what else is new? (more…)

  • Bah, Humbug

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and Greg was bored. That’s probably not the way you remember it. Deal.

I had a major game liquidation recently. Just realized I was hanging onto a lot of games for no apparent reason, and the cash would be more useful to me. I don’t miss anything I’ve gotten rid of so far, and I doubt I’m done yet. There are some that definitely won’t be leaving – but did I really need that copy of Unlimited Saga? I’m thinking “no”…..
