Playlist for Latest Episode

Here’s the playlist for the 6/13/09 episode:

Unfortunately, Liz’s pick of the week – along with the artist I used for the closing song – weren’t available on GrooveShark. So here’s the Amazon link for the Helalyn Flowers EP that Liz picked her song from.

The closing song is “I Miss Me” by Whale.   And the opening song – which is in the playlist above but is listed wrong – is Kiss Me Sunlight by Heart of Air, from the Zone of the Enders soundtrack.  Enjoy!

  • PS3 Firmware 2.70 announced

The Playstation blog was just updated announcing that firmware version 2.70 will be released “soon”.  (Er, Greg tels me its out now.) The firmware boasts such innovative features as text chat with up to 15 of your friends. The ability to sort your friends list in many different ways, and the ever so impressive backing up video feeds!

Honestly Sony, I love the PS3 for its ability to have non-proprietary peripherals, the PSN store, how well it works hand in hand with my PSP, but text chat? Lets pull something out of this century, instead of rehashing the 90’s IRC phase all over again.

  • Returning to Zork… Again…

Some of you long term PC gamers may remember a little game by the name of Zork. For those of you who don’t, Zork was text based game where you played the part of an adventurer out to get treasure. It was a pretty simple premise, but for some reason addictively fun.

Today a new chapter has begun in the Zork series: Legends of Zork. From what I understand its a text-based MMO with its roots set firmly in Zork. A fellow poster over on forumopolis.com was heavily involved in the art direction and has been talking up the game for the past few months. I’ll be jumping in this shortly to give it a spin, won’t you come join me?

  • Andy Hallet Passed Away at 33

You’ll probably know him better as Lorne from the show Angel. He died Sunday night from congestive heart failure. Some say it started with a tooth infection.

    Full info here.

His character brought some much needed color to the show. It’s sad to such a great actor/entertainer pass away so young.

  • Resistance 2 update 1.50 is out!

We’ve talked a lot about Resistance 2, and it’s good to see that Insomniac is keeping up with the support for it. Not only have they released a patch, but they’ve also released some new DLC for it.

Here’s our favorite changes from the patch:

    • Second PSN Login Support: Your fellow couch potato can now save their character’s multiplayer progress, thanks to the added option to log in with two unique PSN accounts.
    • Players now automatically go to staging after every competitive or cooperative game (regame)

You can read the full list of changes here.

  • Stargate > Star Trek & Star Wars

Yeah, I said it.  The new Stargate spin-off series, Stargate Universe, is set to debut this October.  Some info is up on the official Stargate site about who the cast will be.  This series is set aboard a ship, where the previous 2 series have been set around a home base (Earth and Atlantis).  The team behind the new series worked on the previous two, so there’s no reason to expect any less quality from this one.

Read more on the series here.

It seems that you have to actually *subscribe* to Quore to get High Velocity Bowling – if you just buy the one issue (like I did), you don’t get it.  Oops.
